It is hoped that this FAQ will be of use to you and answer most of the questions you might have about Wic-Can Fest. However, if you can not find the information you are looking for, or if you still have any remaining questions, please feel free to contact the Program Director. If you request for information is urgent, please indicate that in the subject line of your Email as we get very busy as the festival date closes in on us – we want to answer your questions in a timely manner.

Please Note: Due to our move to the new festival grounds, this FAQ may change to reflect the new realities of our new home.

  • What is the focus of Wic-Can Fest?

Wic-Can Fest is dedicated to providing a warm and friendly environment for members of the Pagan community to gather for the purpose of shared learning, ritual, workshops and fellowship in a wonderful outdoor woodland setting.

  • Who can attend Wic-Can Fest?

Wic-Can Fest is open to all members of the Pagan community world wide (so long as they agree to follow the festival rules).

  • Do I have to make a reservation to attend Wic-Can Fest, or can I just show up?

It is very important to reserve (pre-register) your spot at Wic-Can Fest – particularly if you wish to reserve indoor space since it is limited.  In order to reserve an indoor spot, your registration fee must be prepaid and reach us no later than 2 weeks (10 business days) prior to the festival. It is suggested that you confirm the availability of indoor space by phoning (705) 454-3077.

  • Where is Wic-Can Fest being held?

Wic-Can Fest is held on the grounds of the Mansfield Outdoor Centre – a large woodland site just north of Toronto, Ontario. We have indoor cabin accommodation for 60 with camping facilities for hundreds more.

  • Who do I make payment for Wic-Can Fest to?

Please make cheques and money orders payable "Wic-Can Fest".  Remember to send Canadian funds or US equivalent. We would ask our American friends to send their payments in US funds (at the current exchange rate).

  • Can I just attend the festival for 1 day or the weekend?

If you wish to attend the festival for a single day, that is fine with us. You can purchase a single day pass at festival registration.  Please note that day passes are not valid for overnight stays.

  • How do I reserve an indoor cabin space?

ALL cabins are dorm style accommodations and sleep between 4 and 6 people.  In order to reserve a cabin, it is vital that you pre-register. The cabins go very quickly and are portioned out on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Please note that those with special needs who cannot camp outside will be given priority when cabin space is being booked.

  • Does Wic-Can Fest provide food for its guests?

Yes, we will be running a kitchen this year as well.

It is crucial that we know ahead of time how many people will be purchasing meals to ensure we buy enough but not too much. On Saturday night, the Main Feast is free and included in the registration price.

  • Can I cook meals at my camping site?

Only if you are using a propane stove. There are no individual fires on this site and we are not allowed to create any. There will be communal fires that can be used for this purpose. Except for the fire pits (where the dancing and rituals take place), all fires must be above ground.

  • I have children. Is Wic-Can Fest child friendly?

Absolutely! Wic-Can Fest is a family oriented festival. We have several children's and family oriented activities planned as well as a number of other events to keep them busy and interested. The Wic-Can Fest site affords children a unique setting in which to explore their pagan heritage in a safe and constructive environment.

NOTE TO PARENTS: Children under the age of 10 MUST be supervised by a parent, legal guardian or sitter at ALL times. It is not permitted to allow your children to run wild on the site.  Please be responsible.

  • What is the weather like during Wic-Can Fest?

Early June in this part of Canada is usually quite warm. Daytime temperatures are usually in the high 20s to low 30’s C (high 70’s to mid 80’s F).  Evenings can be cooler but usually not below 20o C. Rain is always a possibility so be prepared, especially if you are camping out doors.

  • Are there shower facilities at Wic-Can Fest?

Yes, there are showers and flush toilets onsite. Times when the showers can be used will be posted since the water supply is limited and we want to make sure there is water for everyone.

  • Is skyclad allowed on the Wic-Can Fest site?

Skyclad is permitted in designated areas but not permitted on the general festival grounds.

  • I have musical instruments.  Can I bring them to the festival?

Yes, by all means do so. Music is a big part of both the Pagan tradition as well as Wic-Can Fest and we encourage all of our guests to bring their instruments. We do however ask that you do not bring any instruments that require electrical amplification without seeking our permission first. An exception to this rule will be made in the case of our invited musical guests.

  • Are there many workshops and rituals for me to attend?

Yes, we have a full slate of workshops, rituals and activities planned during the festival.

  • I have a workshop or ritual I would like to contribute to this year’s program.  How do I communicate this to the festival staff?

It is very simple! You can phone Anne-Marie at (705) 454-3077 or email her at greymoonlake@yahoo.ca.
