Both
Wic-Can Fest as well as Harvest Fest are held on the same piece of
large private land located about 1 hour north of Toronto, and 40
minutes west of Barrie. One of the major attractions of the festival site, and
due in large part to its diverse environment, is the unusually
broad representation of much of the flora and fauna found in this
part of Southern Ontario -- all concentrated on a single site!
Although
we do permit the limited and responsible harvesting of herbs on
the site, we ask that you follow any directions given in terms of
off limit areas and collection bans in this regard. Needless to
say, it is absolutely forbidden to collect any live animal for any
purpose.
There
is a generous allotment of campsites located throughout the
property, most of which have fire pits available for your use. The
upper portion of the grounds is comprised of two separate large
commons and is the location of the main site buildings. This is
where you will find in dormitory cabins, cottages, administration
building, dining hall, and programming cabin.
When
it comes to choosing a location for your camping spot (that is, if
you have not booked indoor space), a few factors should be
considered. Of those factors, probably one of the most
important is whether you want it relatively quiet around your
camping area at night. If that is the case, don't set up
your tent near the main fire pit as it will definitely be loud
there until sunrise. On the other hand, if you plan to sleep
during the day hours, try to set up your tent in the shade of the
wood or along the eastern tree line if you prefer to camp in the
open. If you need help choosing, just ask one of our staff.. |
